Meditation has the power to completely transform the way we see ourselves and the world. This is my personal journey, one shaped by cultural transition, emotional struggle, and ultimately, deep inner healing through meditation.
From India to the United States: A Difficult Transition
I was born in New Delhi, India, and immigrated to the United States when I was 21 years old. While this move opened new opportunities, it also brought unexpected emotional challenges. Adjusting to a new culture was difficult, and I experienced racial discrimination that deeply affected my mindset.
At that time, my mind was constantly filled with complaints, frustration, and negativity. Gratitude toward God or life itself felt distant. Unfortunately, this negative state of mind did not affect only me; it impacted my husband and my child as well. I wanted to change, but I genuinely did not know how to stop my negative thinking.
A Spiritual Background Without Inner Peace
I was raised in a devout Hindu family and taught to maintain a righteous mind toward God. From a young age, I read scriptures, prayed regularly, and practiced meditation as I had learned in India. Despite my sincere efforts, nothing seemed to ease my inner complaints or negative mindset. I prayed continuously, hoping my heart would change. I meditated faithfully, yet my mind remained heavy and unsettled. I began to wonder why none of these spiritual practices were helping me overcome my emotional pain. During this difficult period, I searched online and discovered a meditation center near my home. Without knowing what to expect, I registered and began the first level of meditation.
Discovering a New Meditation Method
This meditation was completely different from anything I had practiced before. In the past, I had learned to suppress thoughts and focus on chakra energy points in the body used in ancient meditation techniques. While those methods emphasized control, this meditation encouraged understanding. Instead of pushing thoughts away, this method helped me identify the root cause of my negative and ungrateful mind and then abandon it. What surprised me most was how simple and practical the method was. Even someone who had never meditated before could easily understand and follow it. For the first time, meditation felt approachable and effective.
Understanding the Root of My Negative Mind
Before learning this meditation, I did not understand why negativity dominated my thoughts or how to release it. Every day after work, I visited the meditation center, listened to lectures, and practiced guided meditation. Gradually, I began to see myself clearly. I realized that my mind was shaped by unresolved emotions and suppressed memories. Meditation allowed me to look back honestly at my life, instead of avoiding it. This was when real change began. I learned how to let go of my negative mind using the meditation method. Each day, I felt lighter, freer, and more peaceful. You can learn more about this approach on our Meditation Method page and explore how guided practice supports self-reflection.
Healing Childhood Emotions Through Meditation
As I reflected deeper, I uncovered emotions from my childhood. My father had been very conservative and strict. I carried anger toward him but never expressed it. Instead, I repressed those feelings. As an adult, that buried anger surfaced in unhealthy ways. I directed it toward my mother, my husband, and my child without realizing its true source. Through meditation, I learned that the mind is like a trash can; it collects emotional garbage over time. Once I understood this, I felt as though I had come back to life from death. Letting go of these emotional burdens brought a sense of rebirth and clarity that I had never experienced before.
A Peaceful Mind and a Grateful Life
Today, my mind is calm and quiet. The loud negativity that once overwhelmed me no longer exists. My mind feels like a peaceful forest, natural, balanced, and alive. Teacher Woo Myung, who created this meditation method, made this transformation possible. As I continued meditating, I felt deep remorse for the pain my negativity had caused my family. I shared this meditation with them, and now my entire family practices together. We live each day with gratitude, happiness, and emotional stability.
Why This Meditation Method Is So Effective
This meditation method is simple yet powerful. Once you learn it and practice consistently, it helps remove useless thoughts that cause suffering. A dark and negative mind gradually becomes bright, grateful, and peaceful. Unlike other meditation styles I practiced in the past, this method truly changed my life. It is a profound study of the human mind, rooted in understanding rather than suppression.
